A new series has begun filming all over Ontario for Paramount+ with one exceptional shooting location being in Twin Spring Cottage Condo Community and Camping in Burford.
Co-created by Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown focuses on the McLusky family and issues surrounding the only thriving industry in Kingstown, Michigan being incarceration. In a town that struggles to maintain order and justice, the series will focus on themes of inequality, corruption, and racism.
The Mayor of Kingstown cast includes Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner as a series lead with Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest, Derek Websterand, and Taylor Handley also set to star in the desolate series.
Fire trucks and police cars both labelled Brant County and Kingstown can be seen surrounding the set of vacant trailers just steps away from real residents who got a front-row seat to the production from their own mobile homes.
With this being the first time Twin Springs has had the opportunity to become a production set, trailer park owner Jonathan Weaver shares this has been a new experience with customers. “It’s interesting to see how many people are in a Hollywood production. I think people would be overwhelmed with the number of people who are involved in what would probably be three minutes of screen time”
Weaver feels it is interesting and transformative in seeing how much work goes into a production, with several rows of prop trailers surrounding one to blow up, joking that the production team has made his campground “look worse”.
“They’ve made my park look worse, you know. They’re gonna blow up a meth lab, so I really don’t want to be associated with it. But I mean, they’re customers. Just like any other camper, everybody’s got their unique demands.”
A “quiet on set” followed by a countdown had many residents of Twin Springs excited as the final day of shooting in the park involved a trailer meth lab explosion.
The crime drama series is planned to become available on Paramount+ by 2022.
