In the weeks leading up to Christmas 100, Kellogg Lane hosted a holiday market. This year they plan on hosting a Spring Market. Market Manager Angela Rivard spoke on how the idea to host another market came about.
“After the Christmas market, we thought the spring market would be a great way to have people come out after a long winter. After seeing the success of the Merry market we knew that this was a great formula. The sheer support from Londoners to support those small businesses was really great. So we thought let’s do it again. ”
The market had a major focus on supporting local businesses, with more then 60 vendors rotating through it. Rivard says the focus of the Spring Market remains the same.
“Yes, it certainly has. That’s one of the things that we want to make sure that we always do and that’s support our small businesses, even our mid-sized businesses.”
Rivard says the Spring Market will have a big focus on makers and artists. With Artists having an entire floor devoted to them. Last years market was limited to one floor in addition to an outdoor area. Rivard says more of the property will be utilized for the Spring Market.
“We’re going to have artists on the ground level so people can peruse the front part of the building, including the atrium. We’re also going to have a really great walkway to the courtyard so people don’t have to walk around the building,” said Rivard.
Rivard says the Spring Market will run in a similar fashion to the last one.
“So the formula feels pretty good. So we’re not going to change too much. We’ve learned some things on the back end, and we’ll implement a few changes, but we feel like the formula is good. So we don’t want to mess with it too much. ”
The market will continue to follow all health and safety guidelines. With no major additions to their health and saftey protocol.
“We want to make sure that everyone feels really comfortable inside and even outside so we will have crowd control and flow as we did for the Merry Market,” Rivard explained.
The Spring Market will run Thursday to Sunday for three weeks, starting April 8th.
