SizeWize App
After graduating from economics and software engineering at Western University, co-founders Shawn Miller and Arpit Bhanot decided to create an app to make online shopping easier.
“What we’ve found from our experience is that retailers are losing about 1/3 of their revenue to returns. And 60% of those returns are simply due to the clothing not fitting” co-founder Miller says.
SizeWize is an e-commerce app that acts as a sizing tool to help customers have a personalized online shopping experience. The app eliminates the guesswork that comes with sizing and helps find a personalized fit.
“We’ve built algorithms that collect personal measurements and their preferences when they’re shopping. And we compare those results to thousands of other people who share those same preferences and measurements” the co-founder explains.
Miller says the idea came to him and Bhanot last summer when online shopping became so prominent due to the pandemic. While trying to support local businesses in the community, they found sizes fit differently at various clothing stores.
“That was the problem that got us frustrated and thinking, ‘why is there no seamless way to shop across clothing brands without the hassle of having to deal with a return?'” Miller says.
The app is currently working with several local stores in London and Vancouver as they work on final beta testing. It will be available for download in a month, and the team’s goal is to have SizeWize launched on all e-commerce app stores within the next 4-6 months.
“We’re really working towards assuring that we’re delivering a solution that’s actually effective and helping apparel brands.”
