The Toronto Police has Identified the murderer in the 1984 assassination of 9-year old Christine Jessop, a crime that happened in Toronto but became one of London’s biggest murder trials. Police Chief James Ramer said that DNA evidences points for Calvin Hoover who sexually abused the child.
Hoover at the time with the age of 28, who was known to the Jessup family, abducted , sexually assaulted and stabbed Jessop near her house in Queensville, Ontario. Her body was found three months later in a field 55 kilometers from her house.
The suspect died in 2015 but according to Police, would have been charged with Jessop murder had he been alive today. Officers are looking for further information on the murderer. 24 year old Guy Paul Morin who at the time was Jessop’s neighbour, became one of the suspects for the murder.
He was charged and put on trial for murder but ended up acquitted. Morin was convicted by London’s jury but that was eventually overturned, due DNA evidences.
Morin later received $1.25 million from the Ontario government as well as a public apology for the wrongful conviction. Hoover had unrelated criminal history, and was never considered a suspect during the initial investigation of the case.
