The Health Unit doubled on recommendations yesterday on the wearing of masks in public spaces. They announced that they now strongly recommend wearing face coverings in all public spaces, including retail, food, and commercial establishments. The way to beat COVID-19 is to stop it from spreading.
Medical Health Officer, Chris Mackie said on Twitter that evidence shows that people who wear face coverings are also more likely to socially distance. The continued practice of physical distancing is still the main way health officials are working to contain the spread of COVID-19.
ICYMI, @MLHealthUnit now STRONGLY RECOMMENDING wearing masks in any publicly accessible indoor facility.
Evidence now shows that people wearing masks are MORE likely to also keep their distance, and that removes one of the biggest concerns we had that the opposite might be true. https://t.co/3Foyi5Ivdd

The City of London also recently suggested the wearing of masks on public transit when physical distancing is not possible.
The Health Unit reported 5 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday, bringing the total number of cases in the region to 595 with 57 deaths.
Two weeks, and only one COVID-19 death in #ldnont and @CountyMiddlesex. The preceding two months saw over 50 deaths in this region (an average of about 6/week).
That's how you #FlattenTheCurve!
