“We are pleased to announce that nightly camping is opening soon” Said Jennifer Howley, UTRCA Conservations Areas Manager.
Nightly camping will open at the Fanshawe Conservation Area as well as the Pittock Conservation Area on Monday June 29th. With the Wildwood Conservation Area joining them on July 6th.
Nightly camping joins the following services that the Conservation Area is offering.
- Seasonal camping
- Trails for hiking, biking, and enjoying nature
- Day use and boat launch/reservoir
- Day use washrooms
The splash pad in the campground will open Friday, June 26th.
Camp sites will be limited to 50 per cent of their maximum capacity. Nightly camping will be by reservation only. Walk-ins will not be permitted.
Shower facilities will be unavailable, per the direction of local health units. laundry facilities will also remain closed.
The Conservation Area says that all programs, services and protocols will be updated as conditions involving COVID-19 change.
Swimming pools, Group camping, day use pavilion rentals and picnic shelters will remain closed for the season.
The Conservation Area asks visitors to be respectful and patient if there are lines and to take the time to read signs. Rules will be posted at trailheads, campgrounds, and boat launches. Pets will need to be leashed at all times. There will be a zero-tolerance policy for rule breakers.
“We need people to continue to respect physical distancing and group size maximums, to help make opening more facilities a success.” said Howley.
