A yearly tradition in London continued again on Friday night. The annual lighting of the Christmas lights in Victoria Park got illuminated for the first time this season. Over 75-thousand lights were illuminated in the downtown core and one local Londoner is always drawn to the lighting of the lights. “Yeah you know there’s a bunch of colours and pretty lights and a lot of people came out because the weather was nice and it’s a great way to kick off the holiday season.”
In almost perfect weather conditions a large crowd waited around for the festivities, including an appearance by Santa Clause himself, the large crowd was something that another local Londoner says is always good for an event like this one. “yeah it’s nice to see a lot of people out here which has something to do with the weather but yeah it’s really nice to see a lot of people out here celebrating the holidays in their city.”
Despite the conditions one thing would have made the night a lot better said the same local Londoner. ” Yeah the only thing that would make this night a lot better would be a little snow but it’s a little early to wish snow on anybody right now.”
The lights will be illuminated every night from now until the new year and can be viewed nightly from Victoria Park or the thirteenth floor of City Hall.
