The Falcons volleyball teams hosted a pair of home games over the weekend against the Mohawk Mountaineers and the Sheridan Bruins.

On Sunday against the Bruins, the Falcons had a strong showing from Tarea Heshka. The third-year player converted on 50 per cent of her attacks, going 7-14. The Falcons also had at least 10 kills in every set against Sheridan.
The women’s volleyball team maintains its dominance in the OCAA. They have not lost a regular-season conference game in two years, moving to 8-0 this season.
Men’s
The Falcons men’s volleyball team had a dead-even matchup against the Mountaineers, who came into the match at 3-4. The two had a tough-fought first set, finishing 30-28 in favour of the Falcons.
Despite the marathon first set win, the Mountaineers came storming back, taking three straight from the Falcons to win the match 3-1. Mohawk had eight more digs than Fanshawe in the match.
The Falcons were hoping to rebound the next day against a Sheridan Bruins team who had yet to win this season. After Fanshawe took the first set, Sheridan came back and won the second set 26-24. The Bruins pulled out a third set win, which the Falcons responded with an easy fourth set win.
The fifth set was taken right to the brink, with the Bruins taking the match with a 16-14 final set win. The loss puts Fanshawe at 4-4.
The volleyball teams will finish their winter schedule on Saturday in Welland with matches against the Niagara Knights.
