Their are many restaurants in and around Fanshawe College which is nice for students if they need to grab something to eat quickly and don’t have time to make something. It also can be a little to easy sometimes as you don’t want to be eating out all of the time and spending your money as a lot of students are on tight budgets.
I spoke with a few people that work in a couple of the restaurants in and around the school and they had great things to say. After talking with some people the restaurants really do try their best to accommodate students and have events and cheap nights on food for students to go and enjoy and unwind from school for a little bit.
The outback Shack which is located in Fanshawe College has multiple events weekly that they hope students will come and have some fun with. The prices on food aren’t to bad and the service is great. They also like many of the other places in the school offer jobs for the students, which can be a huge help if you need to make some extra money while being at school. A lot of the staff their are students and they will work with your class schedule as well to ensure you can get some hours.
After talking with the manager of Chartwell catering services at Fanshawe College I found out that they are in charge of the Tim Horton’s, Subways, Pizza Pizza’s, and Harvey’s throughout the school. Between the summer months and the school year she expressed how the business and demand in supplies increases about 3 times as much from the summer so its very busy during the school year because many students will eat at those places with it being quick and cheap. About half of the employees that work in those restaurants are all students. Having students as half your employees can teach them good work ethic and responsibility while juggling the stress of school.
The restaurants in and around the school area seem to know that their main business is going to be coming from students during those months. They try to have events some nights or cheap nights on food or drinks to get students out having a good time with friends and not have to worry about spending to much money, just unwind and have a good time. With them offering jobs for students as well, that can help a lot for some kids that need or even just want some extra work. They seem to be understanding of their main business and try to work with that.
