The Royal Bank of Canada has acquired naming rights of the convention centre; its new name is RBC Place London.

RBC and London’s gold standard venue have announced a 10 year partnership in which they commit to strengthen culture, economy, and overall opportunity in the Southwestern Ontario region.
/
“I believe they were looking to an opportunity to increase their profile – as if they needed to – that might be part of it, but it really is another way to give back to our community,” says Mayor Ed Holder.
/
He adds that the venue has a long history of contributing to local economy and that this will open up new opportunities for both organizations. He says this will bring additional profile to the city by strengthening the tourism and hospitality sectors.
/
The convention centre brought in a record economic impact of $21.3 million last year and more than 300 events were held.
/
As for RBC last year, the bank contributed more than $100 million dollars in donations and sponsorships at home and around the world, including $4 million dollars in Southwestern Ontario.
