Fanshawe’s Music industry Arts students took the stage at rum runners.
The bands that played have spent the better part of their semesters throwing mock concerts and sharpening their sound. Everything that happened on Friday night was the culmination of countless hours of practice and of course blood sweat and tears.
Allodays played their third ever show that night, and for them it was powerful release of emotion. In an interview after their set Allodays revealed themselves to be a genuine group of friends just hoping to play for the fun of it. The whirlpool of creativity that flows between them takes from all of their collective strengths and harnesses their passion for music into what ends up being “A hell of a show” as Lead singer Maddie Holden put it.
“… eh! we turned them!”
The feeling of a new crowd beyond their classmates opened up a whole new level of fun, Drummer Jonah Gillespie and bassist Eric Loree both relished the moments where they realized “eh! we turned them!” The shear joy of playing radiates out of Guitarist Chris Ma. His activity on stage shows real showman ship and “Genuine fun.”
“its awesome to meet new people that you otherwise would not have met…”
The MIA students have been given a leg up coming out of Fanshawe college, the momentum that bands like Allodays are beginning to build has started to change their social lives as well. Guitarist Sara Teflissi expressed that “its awesome! to meet new people that you otherwise would not have met” the atmosphere provided the perfect setting for Allodays to show off their stuff and thoroughly engage their crowd.
Not only was it a fun night of music and dancing but the aspiring musicians, many for the first time, got paid. The merch table set out carefully branded concert t shirts and buttons, hoping to attract their first fans.
Allodays is hoping to get a show time during London’s Juno’s week but admitted they hadn’t played a venue at the time of application.
