Christmas season always seems to light the sky up. Around the start of December home owners start to unravel their Christmas lights to let their house shine over the neighbourhood.
Around this time of the year home owners must decide between. LED or Incandescent Lights. Marylynn Kronk, the seasonal department head has seen one type leave the shelves more than the other. “LED for sure, Incandescent seems to be the older style. People can choose between what colours they want with LED as well.”
When making the decision between the two, Paul Huiber, an electrician professor at Fanshawe College says its an easy choice. “LED for sure because of the energy saving. When it comes down to it people need to think of their bills at the end of the month. The bulbs might be more expensive when you buy them but in the long run, LED for sure is the way to go”
A regular 100W LED light bulb has 0.100 amps while a 100W incandescent bulb has 0.800 amps. LED uses 8 times less power creating a much smaller hydro bill at the end of the month.
“Incandescent bulbs also tend to heat up quite quick and can create a fire hazard.” Huiber is a strong believer that LED lights should be the lights that Londoners use this Christmas to deck the halls.
