London’s new City Council has been sworn in and they’re ready to tackle the upcoming term.

In an interview with X FM News, Mayor Ed Holder revealed that he feels “energized” heading into his new position. Holder added that he feels confident in his new team. “This is a great council. I’m looking forward to the opportunities that we have as we move London forward.”
Holder says that Londoners have been more than receptive to the idea of change. The ballroom at the London Convention Centre was packed for the inauguration with more than 700 people in attendance. When heading to the reception, Holder could barely make it into the reception hall with all of the attendees swarming him.

Holder was extremely satisfied with the inauguration. “We couldn’t have had a better evening. We had a phenomenal crowd, and people are really enthusiastic about what this means for London moving forward. I couldn’t be more pleased.”
When Holder gave his speech, he made sure to thank the outgoing council and the previous Mayor Matt Brown. He spoke of the strides made by the previous council, but also added that he wants to take London to new levels.
The current council is comprised of a diverse group of individuals with varying backgrounds, interests, and political viewpoints. Although some felt that the appointment of Deputy-Mayor Jesse Helmer was a shock, Helmer believes that the diversity and range in opinion will be a strength for the new council as many Londoners will have their opinions voiced and considered.
