Kings College held a career fair today with the hopes of getting more students in the workplace. The fair set up by Western U Success saw twenty local vendors packed into the student wellness center at Kings College.
The goal of these businesses was to build an interest in summer jobs and possible careers down the road. There was an array of vendors from banks like TD Canada Trust and CIBC to security companies and medical professions.
“When I was a student and got into the field early i found that I had experiences to put with what I was learning which really helped me along.” said Janelle Cornish a specialist manager from Crest Support Services.
Cornish also spoke about the accommodations that her and other mangers made when they hired students, seeing their work experiences as an investment for when a student finishes school and enters a career more confident.
“It really empowers the students to learn as they move forward in their career, they have a better understanding of what they are getting into.”
