Whether you’re a new or returning student, there are many opportunities to get involved at Fanshawe throughout the year. Though frosh events are coming to an end, there are still events in the months to come where students can get engaged with the student life here at Fanshawe.
Students may find difficulty making meaningful relationships outside of frosh events or their residences but with events such as the Glow Run and Paint Party, X-Rated Hypnotist Tony Lee , and Fanshawe’s Ultimate e-Sports League, students are bound to find events that will interest them. Fanshawe Student Union’s Student Life Coordinator Andrew Waterworth says that students should take advantage of all the events going on at Fanshawe especially during the beginning of the semester while their workload is lighter.
Andrew says that sometimes going outside of what’s comfortable is the key to making meaningful friendships. He also recommends that students join as many clubs and programs that interest them as possible as they may help students establish friendships that will help support you on your academic journey. Clubs Day will be happening on September 26th and this will be the ultimate chance for students to explore all their options to get involved for this upcoming school year.
Not only is participating in events good to stay updated as a Fanshawe student, it may also help with mental health as the FSU is looking to implement mental health-oriented events during stressful times such as during midterms and final evaluations. Fanshawe Student Union’s Advocacy and Communications Coordinator Christine Belanger says that students should get involved both on and off campus to maximize their time and their chances to meet their ultimate support network. A great event she recommends is Opportunity Row which will allow students to explore both opportunities on and off campus.
With all these great opportunities to get involved and get engaged, there’s no reason for students not to enjoy their time here at Fanshawe.
