The time has come, the annual Purple Spur Fashion Show model auditions are happening now at Western University.
This will be the shows 5th year and they look to do it bigger than ever, and man do they have some work to do. Last year’s show raised over twenty- thousand dollars for MADD- London in just under three hours.
The fashion show chose Motionball as their charity for this years show, and they aim to break that twenty-thousand dollar record set last year. Motionball is a not-for-profit Special Olympics Canada initiative that looks to grow awareness and raise funds from the “next generation” of supporters. It pairs Special Olympics athletes with young people for a day and they work together as a team to complete tasks and different sports.
For the lucky models who get chosen by the team of fashion show executives it will be a rigorous next few months preparing for the show. They will each get assigned 2 show categories and have to learn the choreography accordingly. The categories include formal wear, swim suit, lingerie, street wear, WesternU wear and there will also be musical performances from some local bands.
The Purple Spur Fashion Show is the second largest student run fashion show in Canada, with number one being the CAISA Fashion Show which also happens to be from Western.
The show will be a London Music Hall in early 2017.
