Fishing in London is more popular than some would think, and not only that, but tournaments are coming up all summer.
These events are open to public, and to club members of Forest City Bassmasters.
The Bassmasters want anyone with the love of fishing to join together, which is why there are almost 20 tournaments this summer.
Mark Biesigner, the President of the Bassmasters, says that people can get involved without too much expense. Boats are an option for these tournaments, but Biesinger explained that those individuals who don’t have boats have the opportunity to be paired up with those with boats to get that awesome fishing experience.
He also explains why fishing is important to him.
“I’ve met a lot of really great people, and fished with a bunch of different people and learned a lot from them. Some people don’t want to do that competitive aspect of fishing, so that might not be for them, but some people, if they have that competitive streak it’s nice to be able to go out and challenge yourself. And it really makes you a better fisherman.”
Conserving the fish it also really important to the Forest City Bassmasters. Mark Beisinger explains that those who accidentally let the fish die can get penalized. They want to make sure that the fish get thrown back into the water after being caught. They also collect and recycle fishing lines, to make sure it’s disposed of properly.
The point of these tournaments is to have fun, and gather those who love to fish to make new friends in a sport and hobby that many people love.
